This product appears to be very well made and durable. The bezels are quite thick and appear to be real stainless steel. Installation was easy and intuitive. The locking mechanism seems very secure and simple, and certainly reliable. In contrast to more expensive simplex locks, the code can be entered in any order, which significantly reduces the number of possible codes and is therefore slightly easier to guess. But how many thieves just randomly try to guess your code? I don't think that much. And as for guessing based on your personal information (address, phone number, birthday, etc.), these numbers have a built-in code order, so I'm not sure if this guessing method will actually work. on this castle compared to others. I did some math and if my calculations are correct there are about 495 possible 4 digit codes and 950 possible 6 digit codes. The user can set a 1 to 6 digit code and there is no explicit indication of how many digits are used. Ultimately, the number of possible combinations is the sum of the possible codes for each number of digits. I won't do the math, I'll just assume it's around 2000-2500 in total? That's a lot fewer than the 10,000 possible combinations for a four-wheel lock, for example, but enough that I don't think anyone would randomly stand there trying to guess your combination. When pressing the grip, I don't feel any difference between pressing the coded and non-coded buttons, which is promising, but I can't say for sure that someone who knows what they're doing will pull it off. But I definitely share other reviewers' concerns about using a lock to protect something of great value. However, my non-professional impression is that it's probably as secure or even more secure than the cheapest pre-made bolt and lock sets, which can be picked or hit fairly easily. And with this lock, you have the potential benefit of having something less familiar to would-be criminals. For a set of handles that can still be easily opened with a properly shaped tool (or even a credit card) even on a door with a narrow jamb or escutcheon, I find a locking mechanism more than adequate. Another major disadvantage is the fact that additional holes have to be drilled in the door for installation. This means that if you ever switch to a different lock, the door will need to be repaired. For a good door of any kind, I would recommend spending the extra money on either a simplex lock that fits a standard mounting hole, or one that you can be sure you can later replace with the same model. But for garage doors, gates, sheds, storage rooms etc. this is a really high quality product at 1/6th the price of a similar single point lock from a major brand. And you don't have to worry about losing batteries or spare keys. Great, what's that for.
