We recently had a caja china roast pork party - with this method you place the pig in a metal box with coals on top. We decided to give our coals a dual function and put this baby on the box/embers and make "appetizers" while the pig roasts. By appetizers I mean ribeye steaks and corn cooked in the shell. He did a great job with both of them and kind of stole the show from the main event (pig!). It worked much better on steaks than my gas or ceramic grills (Vision Grills). I think the reason it turned out better than my ceramic (Green Egg, Kamado Joe and other brands) is because the steak is closer to the coals, but I can't say for sure. This device requires proper setup such as A fire pit, outdoor/camping fire, or wood-fired (pizza/bread) oven, but if you can place something on a hot, flat surface it can make for a great, convenient, and easy grill. Also, it doesn't have a huge area, so it won't house a large company - at least not all of them at once.
