Prescription compression stockings are fiendishly expensive, so these are an affordable alternative. However, there are two things to keep in mind. First, don't go by shoe size. There's a big difference between someone who wears a size 8 shoe and weighs 120 pounds, and someone who wears the same shoe but weighs 240 pounds. Measure around your ankle and calf. The tightest part of the socks is at the ankle. You should also consult with your doctor before trying these. There are several medical conditions which may prevent you from using these. That being said, these socks are nicely made and give a lot of support. They're available in open toe and closed toe styles. I recommend hand washing to avoid stretching them out. Because they are so tight, you can't use a sock aid to put them on, which may be another consideration if you live alone and can't wrestle with these.
