Review on OEMTOOLS 24397 2.5 Gallon Manual Fluid Extractor Pump For Oil And Transmissions, With Oversized Handle For Easier Use And Extraction by Chad Cross

Revainrating 4 out of 5

We did our own power steering flush!

Would be nice to be able to take it apart more to clean it. ? I wonder if power steering fluid will rot the parts? Pretty hard to know if it is clean and hard to know how to clean & store. We (so far as we know) did a power steering flush. Our fluid was very stinky and dark. AND LOW,used 1 qt and part of another to run through as shown in some youtube videos. (without running the car and hearing the awful noise it was making) We jacked it up so we could turn the wheel back and forth to clear the old fluid. No more noise. but that didn't solve the leak. Old cars are worth it! I imagine we could have prevented this issue if we would have been more educated earlier and had this great suction pump. The seller refunded the difference of a price reduction to boot!Just hope we use it again. For us, changing the oil won't work, our filter is on the bottom and we want all the sludge gone so will still do the crawl under.

Pros
  • Doesn't suck out all the oil but doesn't leave that much behind either.
Cons
  • Has a relatively small fluid capacity, which may limit its usefulness in certain contexts
