In general, the thing is good, I recommend. The downsides are that there is no way to lock the bar in the open/adjustable position to the desired length. When in use, it can continue to expand and contract. If you block its position, the hooks will not align, allowing it to be hung. The second complication is that the hooks end up being strong, but they don't hold their position. They will flop if you spin the bar. It's not a big deal, but those two options mean the installed bar is slippery and difficult to install from just one end of the car. You have to manually hang both hooks as they will fall through. You can't just flip it to the other side and hang it up.
