While this unit produces filtered water at a much higher rate than a typical home RO system, it does not provide a good "user experience" when installed without a conservator. When there is a water demand, you can expect a few drops and then a 15 second delay for water production to start. It has to be some kind of cleaning cycle, but when I want to fill my cup with water I don't like waiting extra time just for the water to start flowing. Also, the flow is slightly weaker and it takes longer to fill a 32-ounce cup than a standard tank-based system. This really should be sold with a 2 gallon tank! After my frustration of waiting for the water to start flowing I bought a 2 gallon surge tank and it turns it from "er" to "the best reverse osmosis system I've ever owned", the recovery rate is phenomenal and happily feeds a "very"small" commercial ice maker that I use for parties and fill my coolers with ice before going out. A traditional reverse osmosis system would be too small for this 100lb/day ice maker + drinking water. I recommend this combined with a 5 gallon expansion tank when you want to fill the pot fill faucet with reverse osmosis water. You can take it a step further by adding a sparkling water cartridge and get the tastiest water straight from the tap!
