later so I wanted to give this review 1 star before reading any of the questions and answers. I was still having trouble getting the torch to work and keeping it burning with premium butane. After reading a review that recommended filling it once and deflating it completely, I gave it a try and now it works great. To ventilate, press and hold the button for about ten minutes. Most of the time it will still ventilate without any noise. There was obviously some kind of inert gas under pressure because I couldn't ignite the escaping gas with any other flame source. Instead, the escaping gas blew a hole in the flame of my other lighter. This is a way to check if it's getting aerated when you do this. When I blew air into the venturi (the spot with holes at the end of the lighter's flame where the exiting butane draws air into the butane stream so it can burn properly) of my soft flame BBQ lighter, the flame diminished. This is consistent with inert gases as they displace oxygen and fuel in the gas mixture, reducing the rate of combustion (and hence heat). 4 stars because I didn't notice this issue when testing.
