I already have a $500 Benq projector but it is ceiling mounted and difficult to move. I wanted something cheaper and portable for nighttime/outdoor viewing for parties and events. This seemed to fit the bill. The first impression was good. Easy unpacking as the projector comes in a nice carrying case. The case has 2 sections: one for attaching the projector and one for accessories. It comes with everything you need in the accessories section, power cord, HDMI cable, height adjustment foot, remote control. The projector is attractive, small and light. Comes with the lens cap attached. After connecting, the projector warmed up very quickly. The on and off times were actually much faster than my more expensive Benq. The fan noise is not too loud, very comparable to my Benq. The board is beautiful. Batteries are not included, only 2 AAA. I've found that you can use the remote pointer anywhere. I had the projector behind me, but the remote still worked and was facing forward. I noticed that there is an IR receiver on both the front and back of the device. The projector also has controls. There's a button on the remote that instantly stops the projection and fan, but if you press it again, everything resumes instantly. This was unlike turning off the device, which was also quick. There weren't many changes in the settings, it was mainly just a connection to the network. There are settings that allow you to mount the projector in different orientations if you want to mount it on the ceiling. In addition, the remote control was only needed to adjust the volume and turn off the device. I couldn't get the casting feature to work as I think it's designed specifically for screen mirroring. However, I was able to connect a Chromecast to it and it worked great, and there was enough room in the carrying case for an extra device like this. I projected the image onto the screen I use on my Benq to check the quality and get a good comparison. I'm happy with the native 720 resolution and brightness. Didn't have the quality of my Benq but wasn't expecting it for 1/5 the price. Since this is in the price range of a 480 native projector, I was very satisfied with the image quality. The focus adjustment was easy to use and worked well. Keystone correction would blur the top and bottom of the image, making it blurry. My Benq doesn't blur the image due to keystone, but it does distort the pixels and you can tell you're using it. I think most projectors have poor keystone correction and I would advise against using it with any projector. I was able to position the projector perpendicular to the wall and the image looked fine. I had to find the center of the capstone to get a clear top-down image. I would leave Keystone there and take a good projector platform for a square image. Just 3 steps to get a great image: 1. Move the projector back to adjust the screen size, 2. Level the platform to get a square image, 3. Adjust the focus to get a clear image to obtain. In general, the quality and brightness meet my expectations of a projector in this price range. I don't need Zoom or Keystone and I don't expect it from a budget device. The most impressive feature of this projector is the sound quality. Very loud and clear for a device of this size, much better than my more expensive projector. This makes it perfect for my needs for a portable all-in-one.
