I almost bought a 2019 Lenovo Y540, but then I found this Nitro 5 728c variant. No other laptop had a 144Hz display with an RTX 2060 and 16GB of RAM. I bet a lot of people are put off by the smaller SSD storage. As for me, I just spent $100 on a 1TB SSD. For a total fee of 1.2k I am very satisfied. I'm not a hardcore gamer. I probably only play 2-3 hour sessions every other day if not twice a week. I noticed that games like Valorant bring the CPU temperature up to 75 degrees Celsius. I can only imagine what would happen if you played a more challenging game like Warzone. Fan noise as I would expect from a gaming laptop. It's loud when you're gaming, but if you're gaming with a headset you won't hear it and it's not audible on your mic. If you're using the laptop for everyday use, the fan will occasionally kick in, but on its quietest setting to keep things cool, it will turn off after a few minutes. But I'm getting used to it. As mentioned above, the SSD storage is small compared to competing laptops. If you only play a few games this isn't a problem, but if you play a lot I recommend getting an extra SSD. You can easily find SSDs in the $100-$150 range, just make sure you know, or have a friend who knows, how to properly install one. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the battery life is very short. It does not deliver 8 hours as advertised; more than about 4 hours maximum. I always play when I'm connected to the network. Playing games without a connection will likely drain your battery life! The only reason I noticed a shorter battery life was because I had previously used a Macbook and their batteries lasted around 10 hours. I dream of the day when Acer ditch the 2.5" drive bay in favor of a bigger battery :) I am very lucky to own this Acer Nitro 5. It has its flaws, of course, but for me they outweigh the benefits. If you are a relative gamer I really think you will enjoy it as much as I do.
