Defective. iMac freezes/crashes. I have followed all the instructions. I washed my hands and made sure I had removed the static electricity. I first placed this new RAM with the old RAM to fill all the slots. Booted, recognized normally. But I noticed that it runs slower than usual. Then it hung/hung and restarted. kept doing it. So I took out the old RAM thinking it was a compatibility issue. I even used the same original slots for the new RAM. The same thing. I then took out the new RAM, put the old one back in and my iMac is working 100% perfect again. I'm returning this RAM and getting a different brand. I used the Apple website as a criterion for purchasing this RAM. I have a Late 2014 iMac 5K Retina display. Works great without that bad RAM.
