I have a Chevy Stepside 75, Stroker 383, Comp Cams cams, Dart heads, 3" exhaust, X-Pipe, 500hp. I started. with cheap Thrush silencers, too loaded, huge amounts of "hate the neighbors". I immediately switched them to Flowmasters, not only was the crockery and cutlery in my house and my neighbors' house vibrating, it also seems to have permanently damaged my hearing. Seriously, I had ringing in my ears for a week after a few test runs. I didn't get what the guys meant by "empty rumble," but now I get it, and I'm not kidding. Googled "quietest hot rod muffler" and watched a Dynomax YouTube video where they showcase all the different mufflers they offer. They joked about the Walker Quitflow series, saying "who would put it on a hot rod," which is ironic because when they mention Walker, their parent company. Well I bought the Walker Quietflow 22677 which is the biggest deal and I can tell you IT'S GREAT! Neighbor hatred is now 2 out of 10, you can talk in the cockpit, no rumble at any rpm as far as I can tell. But don't worry, when I pushed the throttle to 5000rpm the sound was raspy, amazing with no hearing damage. My "rear dyno" says I may have lost 10 or 15 horsepower, but I'm really critical, it could be less. That's still way more horsepower than I'll ever need. And when I go to the drag strip, I can trade them if I really want to. I highly recommend these silencers. And for what it's worth, I built the whole car, including the exhaust, and I was afraid those mufflers would kill the car, but they didn't. Do it, in my opinion you won't regret it and people might want to ride with you now. Thank you Walker!
