This is the second awning we've bought for our camper van - the first slipped from the end into the awning channel meaning you didn't use the channel's hooks for hanging could use the lights on when it's in the canal. If you wish to remove the canopy you can leave the shade attached to the poles on the ground, but simply unhook it from the hooks and fold the canopy over the poles until you are ready to reattach the canopy to the tent . That's a lot more convenient than what ends up being plugged in.
