The antenna seems to be quite well built, it's strong and flexible, but the pin needs to be extended when transmitting. Cross-checking with a VNA and a Bird wattmeter shows that the return loss/SWR on both bands is fairly low (<2:1) with the pin extended, but terrible (>6:1) with the pin retracted. If you extend the pin about 75%, the match is almost perfect on UHF, extend it all the way to VHF. Just for your information.
