The cover mounting lip on these Mercruiser style distributor caps has two small plastic tabs that fit into the mounting holes on the distributor base plate. The tabs on these blue caps are oversized and don't quite fit. It took more effort to get this cap to fit properly so it wouldn't wobble like a short-legged chair. It really works now that I've screwed it up. Spark plug wires are ok. The length is slightly different (mostly longer) than the Mercury I replaced. The quality seems to be ok. When the parts supply issues ease up due to the pandemic, I will likely order genuine Mercury parts.
