Main problem with this product: It goes out of 'sync' very quickly when turning the TV and set top box on/off. This means that one or the other device is "on" and the other is "off". Once that happens, you'll never be able to get the remote power button to turn them on at the same time again. When you press the button, one turns on and the other turns off. The second biggest problem (which makes the first worse): it's SLOW. Press the channel change button and the change will take effect in a few seconds. It literally takes almost a MINUTE to turn on your devices from the moment you press the power button until the image appears. I bought this for my father-in-law who has Alzheimer's. This is WAY too complicated and unreliable. I really wanted this to work, but it just doesn't work.
