It's basically a wireless doorbell. When the button is pressed it will ring like any doorbell - only once unless the button is pressed again. This can be a problem if you're a heavy sleeper or if you're outdoors. While that does the trick, there are better options that work like a nurse call and keep ringing until turned off.
