Review on Camco 40032 Polar White Plumbing by Warrick Batebi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You can split it into two parts for easier installation!

Many reviews say this is a molded piece, not two pieces fitted together. However, this is true out of the box. There are four "stands" plus a cutout, obviously for a screw/mounting hole. Two of the four posts are permanently attached to the lid, and two of those have double plastic inserts (think tongue-in-groove if you want). The two protrusions furthest from the recess are permanent. So if you want to separate the cap from the base you will need a small cutting wheel (like a dremel) to cut off these two protrusions. , then you can lift the cap and it will separate from the base! Yes! Now that the lid is off I used a drill to drill a hole in the bottom of the recess so I can attach the lid to the existing base at the top of my RV with a wood screw. Simply place a cap over your base's existing pins (remember you cut the two farthest from the screw hole so they don't get in the way of your base's protruding pin headers) and then feed the screw through the hole, that you made into the cover at the bottom of the take-up cylinder. It looks like it should have been attached to the base with that screw. However, these steps will allow you to replace ONLY the CAP without stripping your RV's roof, sealing tape, or self-leveling sealant that opens the can. Worms if your roof isn't leaking and you just need to replace the lid. Hope this helps, and if it helps, be sure to click the Helpful button so others can see!
