Yes, it's noisy. However, you can reduce the noise with fan control software. When you're not using the software, the fan is probably running at full speed and making A LOT of noise. The software allows you to reduce the fan speed depending on the temperature of your computer. I currently have the lowest setting at 30 percent until the temp hits 40C. I can still hear the fan, but it's not intrusive. And as another reviewer pointed out, if you can hear the fan, then it's working. Software wise, the disc that came with your motherboard/computer should contain at least a basic fan control program (it may be part of a "software suite"). "Utilities").
