These seem like a great temporary solution since I am not sure how well they will hold up over a harsh winter. They are hollow plastic and although they seem reasonably durable, the elements in some areas of the country can really take a toll on outdoor decor. I do like that they have a slide-lock mechanism to keep them together. They come with stakes to keep them in place as well. I think if you have an area where they aren't super visible up close then they will keep some soil in place and add a bit of visual interest. Overall, they aren't a bad choice for under $40 for 15'.
