Review on Equus 6068 3 3 Tachometer Black by Enrique Espinoza

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well for Polaris Ranger 500 except the pointer does not light up.

The 2005 Polaris Ranger didn't have a tachometer and there wasn't much room for one. This touch is simply attached to the steering column. The cables could be routed through the existing rubber grommet on the dashboard. The hardest part was catching the wire for the inductive sensor. Removing the floor access cover helped. Make sure the cables are routed so that they do not touch the steering column, brake pedal lever or driveshaft. There is not much space in this car. I added a piece of wire to protect the inductive wire and attached a clamp between the coil and the spark plug. Simple and clear. The Polaris Ranger has a terminal block behind the dash with connectors for BAT, GND and ACC so wiring couldn't be simpler. I connected the power and light wires to the switched ACC port. The touch makes a typical full swing when the key is turned on, it seems accurate. Colored boots are included to attach small bulbs and change the color of the backlight. They are functional, but replacing the bulbs with colored LEDs seemed much better to me. Unfortunately, while the dial and numbers are visible, the orange hand is not illuminated, making it very difficult to see at night. I suspect this is a common mistake since at least one other review mentions the "OEM style backlit pointer" not lighting up.
