Replacing the lower ball joints on a 2006 F150. These are steel pivots that press into aluminum forearms. If you've ever tried disassembling pressed steel and aluminum parts, you know it can be a real pain. I used a penetrating oil a few days before work, not that I think helped - it just can't penetrate (although I know it says it in the title). I used a jack under the control arm and knocked the $&%( out of the hinge with the three pounder sled until I saw it move. It doesn't matter how hard - just that it moved. I have got it right the first time I found that the 10 minute charts don't work for all situations, just figure out what receiving cup you need, assemble it and start pressing the tool worked well. photo but the screw is about 1" in diameter. no kidding. after the joint was pushed out the new one went in just as smoothly. i've stopped at the top of each one it was easy to tell when it was installed - the press did just stopped pulling and I couldn't turn the screw that easily. There seem to be many in this price range. Chances are they are all very similar. if not the same. This one works. Buy it is easy.
