Mainly used in medical institutions. But they are great for allergy sufferers. I would say they are like a big lint free napkin. My family has terrible allergies and our noses are always runny. We love them because they are odorless and very durable, so people who are very sensitive will find both perfume and durability in them. One of them will last longer than several conventional fabrics. They're also great for cleaning glasses (but please, no dirty ones!) and other delicate utensils.
