Review on ๐Ÿ„ Coway Airmega AP-1512HH(W) True HEPA Air Purifier with Air Quality Monitoring, Auto Mode, Timer, Filter Indicator, and Eco Mode, White by Jessica Martin

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Unpleasantly loud and vibrated so much (in the highs) that it danced around the room.

I have read quite a few reviews on this particular air purifier and although they were all enthusiastic and urged me to buy one, I was very disappointed with what I received (which I returned for a refund have). That doesn't sound like a common complaint, so I was probably the victim of a damaged unit (perhaps during shipping), but when the fan was running at high power, it was terribly loud and vibrated so badly that it ran across the floor. I had the device upstairs in my daughter's room and we could hear vibrations downstairs when music was playing and people were talking loudly. My guess is that the fan/motor failed at some point during the shipping process or that it is simply a defective product. Anyway, this thing was twice as loud as our Honewell 50250, which has a reputation for being one of the loudest air purifiers out there. The air quality sensor also seems to be below average in the factory settings. I purposely threw some dust around the device to see if it would pick up anything, but it didn't. I also puffed straight into the sensor, beer breath and all, to see if I could activate it. It wasn't until I cranked the sensitivity settings to the highest level that the device finally started to (rapidly) detect changes in air quality, and from that point on it had no problem shifting gears when the air quality deteriorated (like when my wife is on fire ). Bacon). every morning). Not such a big deal, but definitely something to be aware of. Finally, the upstairs air quality indicator is too bright (illuminates nearby walls and ceilings) and cannot be turned off. This seems to be the case with most if not all air purifiers, but one has to wonder what these companies are thinking considering these devices are designed to work 24/7 in bedrooms, especially for allergy sufferers. Luckily, this is easy to fix if you have a small book (or tape) with you, but it's still annoying, especially since nighttime lighting affects sleep quality. the one i got was just a coincidence. I've spent weeks reading reviews and the Coway test results are very, very impressive. If it wasn't for the noise and vibration I would have given it 4/5 stars.
