This product definitely blocks light. However, do not place it near windows that are exposed to direct sunlight for a long time. One of my bedroom windows was absorbing so much heat that one day it spontaneously cracked. It wasn't even very warm (78F). The hit has no effect. Our window specialist told us that such films do this in high heat or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. He said the crack's pattern was certainly the result of thermal shock to the glass. So the price was reasonable for the film. $400 for a window replacement is disappointing to say the least. I work nights in a hospital and really hoped this would be my ticket to a good afternoon nap. Save money and buy blackout curtains like I should have from the start.
