I have used the previous version of this RediFork for many years (5 years to be exact) and it was amazing, accurate and worked perfectly. Unfortunately, he died after accidentally bathing in a pool of water. When it came time to replace it, I didn't look elsewhere and immediately returned to Maverick for another RediFork. I speak from years of experience when I say that this RediForkis is well made and durable. I dropped it, hit it, tossed it in a box with other gill instruments, and it keeps working. It really is a "quick read". Turn it on and in seconds you'll have an accurate meat temperature reading. I really like the display of this RediFork. Not only does it show the actual temperature, but it also has a series of icons for fish, beef, poultry and pork, with bars showing the degree of 'done' ie 'medium', 'medium', 'good'. . For a long time. I've only had to replace the batteries twice in 5 years! I look forward to many years and seasons of grilling with this RediFork.
