This is a good set when you want to paint at night or when you paint 1-5 times. If you want to start painting regularly, it's probably better to get your own paints and brushes. The easel is good but the brushes are not good at all. Of course, red brushes are way better than white ones, I'll probably have to buy better ones anyway. The paint tubes are *very small*, if you mix titanium white/black they disappear in 2 sessions. It's cool that the kit comes with a canvas and 2 canvases, although I only used a sturdy pad of paper the paint dries almost instantly which doesn't help me learn to blend! I would buy it if you don't plan on painting a lot, but it's not an investment if you plan on painting regularly. All in all if it cost $35 it would be good.
