Foreword. I am a HUGE fan of the HyperX headsets (the sound is phenomenal and they are the gaming standard) and for the price they are great. I used them for several years until one day I walked out with them on my head and ripped the cord out of the headset. After disassembling and soldering, the sound was never right. It's time for a new headset. And after seeing countless reviews on YouTube, Sennheiser's G4ME 1 has been hailed as the gold standard for gaming. Slightly more expensive, but Sennheiser drivers (speakers) have a solid reputation. PROS: SOUND QUALITY, SOUND RESOLUTION and RESOLUTION (and yes - BASS!). I could hear nuances that I didn't hear low mid that weren't there before, these aren't just gaming headphones. Throw in some 96kHz high definition 24-bit classics and the production blew my best BOSE headphones out of the water. (I'm a BOSE fan, but you have to admit it.) I connected these headphones to the SOUND BLASTER G6 and compared them to the ASUS STRIX SOAR sound card. The G6 was just as powerful but had warmer overtones and better rolloff, so I went with it. The end result is tight sound quality with deep sonic resolution and without overwhelming bass (if you don't want that). Very well balanced. Whereas in-game bullets and footsteps were crystal clear, loud, yet sharp while remaining crisp. Mechanically, the drivers are attached with an aluminum (not plastic) hinge to the headband, which I believe is also plastic-wrapped aluminum, with a leatherette strap that rests on the head. They're not heavy, but they're not weightless either. I just wish they pressed a little harder against my head, but everyone is a little different. CONS: The only cons are really simple. Firstly, don't use it with a built-in sound card. You are wasting your money. Your built-in sound cards (unless they're high-end) aren't going to unleash the potential of these 150 ohm headphones. You can't get deep bass out of them. Purchase a sound card period. They're cheap anyway and work wonders. The G4ME 1 are HIGH IMPEDANCE headphones - point (better sound quality but more power). The second minus point is the volume control on the right earphone. For the first few days I couldn't figure out why my sound was so low and thought my Sound Blaster G6 wasn't powerful enough, no. I hit the dial by putting it on without realizing it, but the dial is pretty nice so it's not really a downside. Conclusion: I would love to buy again! These are the best gaming headphones I've ever used.
