My friend had a mandolin and I was so impressed with how quickly and easily she could prepare vegetables like zucchini and sweet potatoes. However, I was a bit disappointed with this mandolin as the blade felt a little dull the first time I used it and the veggies stuck to it. I ended up with some neatly cut slices and had to very carefully peel them off the mandolin and cut them again. It still works and speeds up cutting, but not as well as I expected after seeing a friend using a similar one. I'm a little worried about how long it will last considering how it will perform when brand new.
