Review on Fairtex Microfiber Military Sparring Training by Mark Fleming

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great quality all round but style will vary.

This is my third pair of Fairtex gloves. The first two BGV5 models I want to comment on first. The red 16oz BGV5 was purchased in September 2015. for sparring, pads and bag per year, on average 5 times per week. I used multiple bags of miso to keep them from getting rough inside during this time. Another year with these gloves and now they have started cracking/opening around the wrist. The wrist support was and still is great, with just enough room in the hand not to feel cramped and not enough to feel like it's floating around. The second pair was bought to replace the first for sparring. They seemed lighter/smaller but hand in hand I could never tell. I thought the seal expanded on the first one over time. Six months later they are still training great. As with the first pair, the wrist rest is solid, this one seems to have a little more room for the hands but again not enough to float. place them side by side and weigh them on a food scale. The BGV1, despite the size difference, weighs exactly the same at just over 18 ounces. I wish I had weighed it when I bought it to see if it has changed over time. Yes, they were weighed dry and not used for almost two days. The BGV14Y, the longest of the three, weighed just over 14 ounces, despite 16 ounces being printed on the bracelet. I bought these for sparring but due to their lighter weight I just detach the red BGV1s and use them for pillows and bags. The latest pair is very similar to the wrist brace, maybe a little more. However, the hand space is significantly smaller. Oddly enough for me they would be good for clinch work if they really weighed what they were saying. I have yet to break them in but so far they are great for the bag. I would give the BGV14Y 5 stars if it even weighed as advertised.
