Review on HP Pavilion 23Xw Backlit Monitor: Full HD 1920X1080P, 60Hz, HDMI – J7Y75AA#ABA by Dave Albright

Edit: Fixed my issues, it wasn't a monitor issue. Works very well so far, I like the anti-reflective coating. It's very light, the design looks good, it takes up less space than my previous monitor but has the same screen size. One thing I don't like is that all the buttons are in the bottom right corner, under the screen itself, I'm not a big fan of that, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker. Otherwise he does his job well. Monitors should be "plug and play". You connect them, you play with them. Or, in this case, look at them. I have no problems with the display (I hope not yet) and the design is nice, modern, simple, elegant, fine. Here's my problem: I turn off my computer, plug everything in, and cross my fingers. It works out. But on the flip side: what the heck is going on with all those reg.exes running in my task manager? Why is everything so slow? Why isn't he answering? I have to reset my child hard. I try again, the computer then works as it should for about 10 minutes. it begins. Reg.exe comes in pairs, eventually hundreds of them. Don't answer anything. Slow, sluggish computer, it uses 6/12 gigabytes of my RAM and almost no CPU (0%-2%). My computer has never done this, it's fairly new. And I'm not a naive computer illiterate, I know about suspicious files/sites, I use antivirus and all that stuff. I have solved every problem, big or small, on my own (with a lot of help from the internet). I know how to clean desktops, install graphics cards, etc. As of this writing, I've spent almost 12 hours trying everything I can think of. Obvious step: use my old monitor. It still does this new, nightmarish behavior. Next step: run in safe, perform system restore. Nothing changes. Next step: Try again. Nothing changes. Next step: Disable programs that run at startup. Everything except antivirus disabled. Nothing changes. Install new AMD Firepro drivers. Do nothing. Next step: Boot into Safe Mode, run Trend Micro sysclean. This is where I am. Next I'll try removing my graphics card entirely, plugging in a new one and see if that helps. I now use HP approved products. Desktop HP Z840. AMD Firepro (ships with HP proprietary driver disk). HP monitor. HP mouse and keyboard. The only thing NOT HP is my display to VGA adapter, tablet, external hard drives. I have a feeling I'm going to have a long night, morning, afternoon and another night to fix this. That should not be a problem. I don't know if it's a problem on my end or what, but like I said, everything was perfect before this piece of junk touched my computer. I'd love to give it a fair rating based on the quality of its display, but I can't as it's almost rendered my nearly $4,000 hardware at the moment unusable. Luckily, I have backups of almost everything except for a few unimportant things, but factory reset is still an unbearably long option. I used to think HP had a rep (and I still think so), but that changed my mind. I've been using HP computers for a long time and the problems I've had have never been HP related, mostly Microsoft/Windows. But for me it really messed up my opinion of HP. You can bet the next monitor I buy won't be HP. This Dell laptop I'm writing on has been good for me, it's over 5 years old, works well and my family (including my 8 year old niece) have put it through its paces. Does Dell make monitors?
