It doesn't knead as well as a metal crush.
I bought them to mash up potatoes and ground beef for chili or other dishes. I have new non-stick cookware and I don't want to scratch it. The old-fashioned metalworker made it very easy for himself. They didn't even seem to reach the top of the pan. The meat was evenly distributed but certainly not separated.
