I am a licensed barber and always buy very expensive Japanese scissors. They're worth the money, and companies sharpen them at no extra cost, so you can keep them for years before you can't sharpen them anymore. I saw so many good reviews for these inexpensive scissors that I had to try them. They are sharp, not as sharp as my Japanese scissors but very close. They have a good balance and cut the hair very well. These are great scissors for beginners, but pros can use them as spare or household scissors. I would highly recommend these scissors if you are in beauty school. The scissors you get in your kit are not too sharp at all, they are much more suitable for learning, and please stay away from professional Japanese scissors until you master your hair cutting skills. Professional Japanese scissors are so sharp that if you accidentally touch the blade you will cut yourself.
