It smelled a little.
I bought it to organize my husband's unnecessary things, socks, medicines, etc. They fit perfectly in the room and look great. The only issue I have with them is that they come flat packed so it was difficult to flatten them out. You may need to iron them. Also, they had a very strong chemical (ammonia) smell, so it wasn't very pleasant to have them in the room. You can air them somewhere away from people or air them out.
