Review on Food Grade Mold Making Silicone Rubber - Smooth-Sil 940 Trial Unit by Summer Hendricks

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for making Lego Lollipop shapes!

I used this to make a lego jam/chocolate brick mold. I took a regular Lego baseplate (10" x 10") and built a 3 brick high wall around it with 2 stud wide bricks. Then I lay rows of lego bricks, making sure there is a 1 pin gap between them. I poured the silicone using the entire silicone canister and made the perfect heavy duty mold for my stones. The best part is that after pouring the candies into the mold I can use the bottom plate to add indentations to the bottom of my bricks so you can stack them on top of each other. :-) I didn't, I didn't have access to a vacuum chamber and I mixed the two pieces of silicone by hand with a disposable plastic spoon. But it still worked very well.

Pros
  • Food Grade (See Technical Bulletin) - Excellent for making molds and baking sheets, ice cream molds, butter icing, chocolate, fondant and other products used in food production.
Cons
  • Expensive
