A downside to great cycling shoes

These are great shoes for walking after a bike ride without having to change shoes. Hike-a-bike is more comfortable because the rubber floor is more flexible. Grip with flat pedals is amazing. For me personally, it's also a great shoe to look at. And here is my first world problem. The material around the shoe opening, also called the collar and tongue of the shoe, is not comfortable for the ankle. There's not much indentation at all, don't know why it's not mentioned more. There is some padding on the lower inside of the collar, but not on the top edges where they constantly rub against your ankles as you pedal. Most high-top shoes have padding in this area for comfort. The Adidas tag on the tongue of the upper, as you can see in my photo, rubbed over the skin on both lower legs during a short mountain bike ride of about 6 miles. The easiest way to get rid of chafing and an uncomfortable collar is to wear larger socks. Over time it can ruin the sock? I might end up cutting off the Adidas logo tag on the tongue. However, I don't like that, so I deduct 2 stars because of the wearing comfort. Everything else gets top marks.
