I can confirm that many of these devices will work out of the box with an AT&T Internet Gateway (Pace Model 5268ac), but what not The specs make it clear that any of the RJ- 45 Ethernet ports is only 10/100 (not gigabit) so while theoretical throughput is 256 Mbps, any connected device can never reach speeds over 100 Mbps; hence only 4 stars. I have tested and am able to get the full 100Mbps from a laptop connected to 2 of these devices at a time. Both are connected to a gateway and I assume that each ethernet port on a device can reach 100Mbps simultaneously (not tested). The AT&T gateway includes an AC1200 wireless router and its drop rate is faster than this device when on the same laptop in the same location over WiFi. I would only recommend this unit if: a) a place in your house is too far from Wi-Fi to get good speeds, but you have a coax outlet in that room that you can use to this box. b) Want to extend your WiFi and have a wired outlet in a good spot to plug it into and then connect a WiFi hotspot. This solution is much better than a WiFi extender that halves the speed just by using it. c) You need a more reliable connection than WiFi. That was my case; This works much better for streaming video and other real-time data, and it's worth giving up the extra bandwidth to get a reliable 100Mbps connection instead of the unreliable 200-300Mbps one.
