Two hoes (I use them under the bed for a faint glow on the floor but not in the eyes in case of a hit in the middle of the night): 1. I found the light too bright and too white, so I taped red kraft paper over the lit area. Now it doesn't blind me anymore.2. Constantly changing batteries can be annoying, so I modified it to use an external power supply. It draws 6 volts, a modest 35mA when the lamp is on and a tiny 0.06mA when the lamp is off (and just looking for movement). So I found a 6V 200mA transformer from Jameco (P/N 19052) and an integrated 2.1mm jack (P/N 159611) and an auxiliary cable to Mr. Beams, so it now runs on AC. (If connected in parallel to a battery circuit, it can still be powered by batteries OR AC adapter, but never both.)
