Okay so I saw the 1 star reviews saying it was a leak but I decided me to try it anyway as other reviewers had bought the same base product but with different port sizes npt didn't seem to have this problem so i thought maybe these random leak issues were random i had to think a little i had right after the Installed a leak where the filter well screws onto the lid.It also came from the female NPT fittings in the cap where I installed male NPT brass fittings of the appropriate (i.e. nominal) size with Teflon tape.Prior to installing the latter noticed I noticed that the female NPT fitting in the cap seemed to have a lot of play (i.e. I could not turn the male NPT fitting tighten the bung almost completely by hand), which I think was caused by careless and slightly enlarged mold . During manufacture. As a result, I wrapped the threads of the male NPT with about 7 turns of Teflon tape prior to installation. Still leaked. To fix this problem I took it apart, cleaned the threads and rewound the same number of teflon tape turns and then applied pipe grease to the tape. That fixed one of the fittings but one is still leaking so I have to take it apart again and use pipe grease and a wick to see if that stops the leak. Old-fashioned solution, but hey, if that's what it takes to make it work, I'm all for it. Now back to another leak between pan and lid. Disassembled it, lubricated the o-ring with food grade silicone grease, reinstalled and pressurized (55 psi). Still leaked. Then, upon disassembly, I carefully examined the o-ring and found that it was flattened. Ahah, I said to myself, that's the problem. The device has probably been tightened in storage for so long that it must have deformed the O-ring. So this explains the leak that other reviewers have seen. So I went to Revain (where I also bought the filter housing) for a replacement o-ring. nope! So I contacted Hydronix customer service to see where it can be purchased as I also shared my experience of receiving a flattened o-ring. The rep gave me the part number for a replacement o-ring but was otherwise defensive, dismissive, arrogant, and generally even awkward to talk to. Anyway, I managed to find this o-ring in one of the online water filter stores. I bought a few extra. When I received them I checked them carefully for flatness (round! YES!), smeared them with silicone grease and made sure there were no stray fibers (or anything else that would prevent the o-ring from making a good seal in the body form) were present), duct sealing ring in the filter shaft vented, mating surface in the cover cleaned, twisted by hand, it still flows under pressure. Then I bought a Hydronix wrench, screwed the pan onto the lid as tight as I could and it was still leaking! After all, all I can say is that I must have received a defective case (lid, pan, I don't know which one). So from loose tolerances in fittings that result in female NPT holes being slightly oversized, to problems with cap-to-socket mating surfaces that do NOT fit snugly with the o-ring (not to mention a flattened o-ring ). - Ring from original purchase.), This appears to be poor quality control on the part of the manufacturer who doesn't seem to really care and put arrogant support reps on the other end of the phone line to justifiably fire angry customers. I would suggest looking for another product from another company. I'm just saying.
