This is the best kind of drying blade. I kept it in the back seat of my car for years and eventually it rotted and fell apart. Don't keep it in your car if you want it to last for years. The one in my shower still works and I use it every day. The shower is not exposed to UV radiation and does not heat up like in a car. Make sure your car is clean and washed before use to prevent dirt particles from getting on the car paint. I use mine mostly on glass windows and sunroofs, but occasionally on painted surfaces. Forget about using a blade that doesn't have a T-shape. A T-shape works much better than a straight blade.
