Cherry brown switches are good; pleasant touch, not too loud. During meetings, there were no complaints about the loud mechanical keyboard. A few keyboards ago I had an MS Ergonomic keyboard, model 4000 if memory enough. They had membrane switches but pretty good quality. , which mimic the full keyboards of yesteryear, with the Page Down, Page Up, Arrow and Exit keys all perfectly positioned, at least I thought so. It had to be replaced and I got the next generation MS Ergonomic; it was just awful. Several buttons weren't where I thought they would be, particularly the exit button. Linux users who are used to using vi or vim will understand the importance of the exit key. Try the KINESIS Freestyle Pro ergonomic split keyboard. What I like: - The escape key is where it belongs and it's big. - The split keyboard took some getting used to, its layout hardly differs from the MS keyboard - The keys are easy to program. What I don't like: - Arrow placement, Page Down, Page Up, Home and End keys. If only this keyboard could have a right side and separate pgdn, pgup, arrows etc on the right side. Reprogramming the buttons is easy and useful. For example, I held down Caps Lock - now it's Shift. Speaking of Caps Lock, it would be great if Kinesis added a CAPSLOCK indicator to this keyboard. F1 is now another escape key. I've tried several keyboards and this one is pretty good. For those of you using KVM, this works great over KVM, at least with the TESmart 8-port KVM I'm using.
