Don't sleep in them
Bought 2 pairs for my almost 2 year old who put small loops on several times and ripped them out and my 4 year old. The second day they were in it, went to bed in it, and woke up having missed one. I found one of them in good condition, meaning it was simply broken off and detached from the stick, but the other was completely broken in half.
