I made them try broomstick. I've tried using a real piece of an old broom but the wood is too rough, the yarn is sticky and difficult to put on and take off, this big knitting needle does a lot better. I ordered size 35 in orange, not white like here. They are very light and easy to put on and remove seams. However, the tip of the needle (where the color is different) is a separate piece of plastic, and their connection isn't perfect. I believe if you tried to knit with them the connection would prevent your loops from sliding smoothly. I had to order Lion Brand, they go with whatever you want to do. Vision is always 20-20.
