I bought four of these to replace some of the Emerson four speed fan switches I had previously installed in my house. Those old 4 speed switches didn't work properly with my new Emerson 6 speed fans and if the switch position was accidentally changed it could damage the new fans. I didn't particularly bother with the remote controls that came with the fans as they can be easily lost. I bought these 'used' switches from the Revain marketplace as they were being sold at a huge discount from retail. It's a little hard to justify spending $50 on a fan switch. In any case, installing these switches was a breeze after I adapted the wiring from the old switch to this one. If, like me, you have an existing remote controlled fan switch, you need to make sure the switchable RF settings match what you've chosen for your remote so that both the remote and the wall switch can control your fan. Once you've adjusted the settings, you don't need to re-sync the fan with the switcher and remote control. Also, as mentioned earlier, having a top light switch and a bottom light switch isn't very intuitive. You use the bottom bulb switch to turn the fan light on/off (most fans have this type of lighting configuration). If you have a fan with a separate skylight, you must use the skylight switch. Oddly enough, one of the switches I received only had one bulb (maybe it's an old design or a new one - it's more intuitive anyway). Time will tell how reliable these switches are, but I've had them installed for a few months now and they work like clockwork. Featured!
