Excellent leather! Each leather is unique, but there are common qualities; mine was "very good". I was very impressed. I had a strip of high quality, thick leather. Smooth on one side, rough on the other. As.fine.as you'd expect.Defender: I wanted a leather strap to protect "things" that I wanted to "grab" with pliers. Instead of tearing "things" with pliers, leather was traditionally used between the tool and the blade. a part for transmitting a torque without the tool's teeth gouging the surface or surface of the "object" being turned. (Tighten or loosen.) Belts and Leather Projects: I haven't made belts since the 1970's, but I recommend this for belts because it's very good leather. Very smooth, clean, solid color, pleasant to the touch, usually elastic.
