This paper towel holder is made of very sturdy materials; the mounting plate in particular is quite large. The silicon around the tube holds the paper towel roll securely. It is pretty pricey, compared to other such products, but it is quite a bit nicer than the other ones I’ve installed (and then later had to remove).You are supposed to be able to install this with only the 3M adhesive on the back of the plate, or with drywall anchors (or both), but I recommend finding wall studs or cabinet struts to screw into. It just seems like the adhesive would pull away from a painted wall over time—after all, you’re yanking on this pretty frequently—and drywall anchors are probably too weak for this, too. I found a spot on a side of a cabinet that allowed me to screw into solid wood, and that combined with the adhesive make it very sturdy.I like that you can set it in horizontal or vertical orientation. Making it vertical allows the paper towels to droop a bit, but hey, that’s gravity for you. Actually, most of the time it’s oriented somewhere in between horizonal and vertical, because someone has pulled it there and hasn’t put it back. Overall, I have no complaints, and I like the quality and the function.
