The item description says "heavy" can opener. No, that is not so! And the box says nothing about it - the description is misleading. In fact, it's all plastic save for the blade and a few other tiny parts, and weighs about half what my old Cuisinart Die Cast can opener weighed. (Why do companies make an amazing product for a while and then just stop? That old Cuisinart was a workhorse and a beautiful thing that lasted *many* years - until one of the few plastic parts just died.) If you want a heavy can Opener, look elsewhere. If you need a metal device, look elsewhere. I expect it to last about a year if I'm lucky, but in the meantime I'll try to find something better.
