I added these to my IT gear as I had to constantly cut and trim hook and loop fasteners off the roll and often had to cut blister and clamshell packs which require a bit more hard work. They are very handy and suitable for such tasks and also spring up so that they do not get caught in the packaging. The locking mechanism seems to stay in place fairly well and the guard fits and doesn't fit well. .
