This product has been very useful for my purposes. Gates are basically similar to side blinds. You pull it out through the hole and hook onto the two plastic loops on the two plastic hooks. Then turn the latch on top of the reel mechanism. Visitors were impressed by this gate and asked about it. I used them to block the stairs with the trim and molding at the top. This interfered with the installation of other gates, and I also wanted the gate to be taller (leaving a gap at the bottom) to discourage an adult from climbing (rolling over) the gate. Can be opened and closed easily. The only downside is that the hooks and loops used to hold the goal are plastic. When I push the gate with my hand to check it, the hooks bend. I prefer something more durable like metal hooks/loops because if someone falls through the gate I think the plastic hooks or loops will break and allow the person to fall through. Aside from the need to reinforce the hook/loop, the gate is satisfactory for my purposes.
