The medium brush couldn't go all the way in to clean the outlet tube in the middle of the fountain installed. The smaller brush was of little use for the reasons above and even after removing the front of the pump other than attempting to clean the pump inlet louvers. The only really useful brush was the brush. large one by soaking it in dish soap and inserting it into the inlet next to the white impeller. So far I've found the most helpful thing to do is to take everything apart and unplug the pump's power cord (plug to prevent water leakage) and run it through the dishwasher. Soak the pump and its parts in hot water for about 5 minutes, use brushes if possible, rinse and repeat, finally fill the sink with cold water, let the pump pump water, drain the water and repeat the process until all soap residue is removed from the inside of the pump.
