I wasn't expecting this; They really are in their class. I bought these on a friend's recommendation, ie based on a video review by someone who happened to be a friend, so didn't get a chance to ask questions. . These are Vibrams so I was expecting 5 separate toe boxes; You only have one sock and it's relatively small. If I had known this I wouldn't have bought them but now I'm glad I did. This is the closest thing to walking barefoot in shoes. They are very light and flexible, so is the outsole, but the outsole offers adequate protection. I probably wouldn't wear them to run 10K and I certainly wouldn't wear them to walk all day on concrete in Manhattan. I also don't know if I'll wear them in the OR; For example, they do not protect against an X-ray machine running over your leg. I use them for light hiking and trail running, as well as trips to Trader Joe's or the dentist. They give me a fantastic feel for the road; I can feel every pebble, but at the same time I can walk over pebbles and broken glass that I wouldn't even dream of walking barefoot on. They are extremely comfortable, offer great street feel and allow my feet to work naturally, almost like barefoot, while still providing the protection you expect from a shoe. Disc, I thought the socks are too small, the shoes maybe too short, maybe I should have taken size 11. But the fact is that shoes are more elastic than socks. After a few more walks I decided the size was fine. The sock can be slightly smaller because it stretches like a sock, or even more. I would recommend going up either your size or a half (US) size. I like her. If you want the most minimal shoes you can get, I think this is it.
